CE Course Description

Veterans and their families undergo numerous adjustments and stressors when transitioning back to civilian life. They are at risk for behavioral health conditions, including anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, grief, and suicide. The Veterans' experiences also impact families. Therefore, mental health professionals need to be skilled in identifying these conditions and treating them with a trauma-focused lens that is supportive of the unique needs of Veterans. This course will provide an overview of behavioral health conditions and their impact on the families of Veterans. Evidence-based interventions, including suicide prevention, are also outlined.
