CE Course Description

This brief intermediate level continuing education course was developed using information from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and is intended to provide information about the use and abuse of hallucinogens, club drugs, and MDMA (ecstasy). The effects of these drugs on the brain are discussed as well as other adverse health effects.  In addition, addictive potential and treatment options are summarized.

CE Course Objective

1. Describe the characteristics, prevalence, and effects of hallucinogens, club drugs, and MDMA.

2. Discuss the abuse potential of these substances, adverse health effects, and addictive properties.

3. Identify current research findings, including what is being reported about the potential therapeutic value of MDMA.

4. Summarize treatment options for hallucinogen intoxication and for use and abuse of these substances.

Instructor Notes
The Mindful team consists of numerous behavioral health professionals with a plethora of clinical experience as well as backgrounds in higher education, including teaching at the university level.
